Ian’s Therapies

Ian uses both Japanese and Chinese style acupuncture with a combination of acupuncture needles, magnets, and cupping during treatment.  In addition, some patients are given take-home magnets and/or pressballs to extend the active treatment effects as appropriate.  Ian also offers private lessons in self-healing Qigong or T’ai Chi

About the needles and for needle sensitive patients

Many first-time patients can be concerned about the potential for pain from acupuncture needles.  This is natural and expected considering that many people experience undesirable levels of pain during hypodermic needle blood draws and injections.    Ian’s approach is to minimize or eliminate acupuncture needle pain.  In fact, Ian’s perspective is that less discomfort is often better for the relaxation of the patient.  (It is worth noting that many acupuncture needles can fit inside the tube of a hypodermic needle).

If a patient is too sensitive to tolerate inserted acupuncture needles, Ian has experience and success treating patients solely with non-insertive needles, magnets and/or acupressure.  In addition, Ian can teach patients self-acupressure and self-healing qigong to replace or complement inserted-needle acupuncture.
